Special Report Accounting For Andersen Accounts Penelope Patsuris, 08.07.02, 3:30 PM ET
NEW YORK - One man gathers what another man spills--and right now the race is on in the accounting industry to land the thousands of clients left behind after Andersen's demise. In the lead so far: Ernst & Young, which has picked up new public accounts worth nearly $400 million in audit and consulting billings since the first of the year.
But it's anybody's game, since two-thirds of Andersen's publicly owned clients have yet to announce where they're headed after Aug. 31, when Andersen will cease auditing public companies. And that's not to mention the 30,000 or so private firms on Andersen's roster that are also in search of new services and don't have to publicly disclose their move.
