One Elle Of A House

Who's buying, who's selling in the world of high-end real estate:

Blake's Other Big House

Robert Blake: celling out.
While alleged murderer Robert Blake awaits his fate in a Los Angeles jail cell, his people have been busy working on his behalf. His daughter Delinah Blake just received custody of his two-year-old daughter last week (despite protests from his late wife's sister Margerry Bakley) and now comes word that he has successfully sold off his Los Angeles home, "Mata Hari Ranch," and is in the midst of selling off one of his other properties, a $1.95 million ranch in Hidden Hills (an exclusive gated community near Los Angeles). He has already received an offer on the property.

The 5,000-square-foot home has seven bedrooms, six baths and a guesthouse where his late wife stayed. Unfortunately, it was short on privacy, since so many tourists, passersby and photographers staked the place out.

The 68-year-old actor, whose birth name was Mickey Gubitosi, is facing murder charges connected to the shooting death of his late wife Bonny Lee Bakley outside a diner in May 2001. He started his career at the tender age of 6 in MGM's Our Gang films, playing the role of "Mickey." The recent turn of events in Blake's life leads one to believe there may be some truth to the wacky "Little Rascal Curse"--a myth used to explain the untimely deaths of the Little Rascals cast members.

Model Home For Australian Model

The house is nice-looking too.
Nearly three months after supermodel Elle Macpherson found her West London Notting Hill home burgled, the 38-year-old bought a coveted Sydney apartment for more than $1.6 million Australian dollars (about $863,000 U.S. dollars), according to the Sun Herald. Macpherson reportedly sent her father, rugby team owner Peter Gow, to check the place out, but she didn't waste any time before deciding to buy the waterfront apartment (located on Stafford Street in Double Bay). It had been scheduled to be auctioned off for $1.7 million (Australian dollars). The home itself is said to include a garden area and has access to a private beach.

One of Oz's most famous exports, Macpherson got her start in modeling in 1981, but had originally planned on following her stepfather's footsteps to become a barrister. She had signed up for a pre-law program in Sydney before being "discovered" while vacationing in Aspen, Colo. Elle graced the pages, appropriately enough, of Elle magazine every single month for six consecutive years, before she--like many other models--tried her hand at acting. Among the films in which she has appeared are Sirens, Batman & Robin and The Edge.

Renee Zellweger Shows The Money

Cowgirl makes good.
The Texan cheerleader-turned-actress Renee Zellweger traded in her nearly $2 million humble Hollywood Hills home for a substantial Bel Air mansion, according to the Los Angeles Times. The house, for which she paid $6.8 million, is 6,400 square feet and includes seven bedrooms, a gym and eight bathrooms. It had reportedly been on and off the market for over a year and was originally listed for $8.9 million. Either Zellweger is one heck of a negotiator, or the seller was eager to get rid of the place.

Zellweger is estimated to have earned between $3 million and $5 million for her performance as Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones' Diary. (She received an Oscar nomination for her performance despite initial protests that an American had been cast in the role.) She hasn't stopped to take a breath since. In October she will hit the screens as Claire Richards in the film adoption of the novel White Oleander; she is also slated to star as Roxi Hart in the film version of the musical Chicago. But that's not all Zellweger has on her plate. She is also co-starring in the romantic comedy Down With Love with Ewan McGregor, which is currently in production and expected to be released sometime in 2003.
