As part of our Black History month celebration, American Legacy honors a unique group of fearless pioneers who have inspired us with their remarkable achievements and contributions… they are the Women of Strength and Courage.

On the morning of the awards reception American Legacy hosts a youth forum where young African-Americans from the area have the opportunity to interact with living history.

The 2nd Annual American Legacy Gospel on the Plaza Sponsored by San Antonio

American Legacy and the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau sponsored the 2nd Annual Gospel on the Plaza music competition. Church choirs were invited to participate in this historic event held at the Maverick Plaza in San Antonio, Texas.

The gospel competition is held each year during the 9th Annual Soul Food Fest sponsored by the LaVillita Heritage Society. This year, Guy Fortt, singer and actor of the Broadway production of “The Color Purple”, hosted the adult choir competition on Friday, May 16th.

	On Saturday, May 17th the day started out with a workshop on the History of Gospel Music, Instruction in Vocalization, and Presentation Enhancements was facilitated by Derrick L. James, Concert and Gospel Choir Master.

American Legacy and Bayer honor a trio of heroes – Drs. Hunt, Jenkins, Davis – co-authors of The Pact and The Bond among other books as well as co-founders of the Three Doctors Organization.
