This entertaining but educational academic challenge enabled all students to compete and showcase their knowledge of African-American history. Not only did they educate themselves and others but some won college scholarships. The topic? American History…a completely factual, essential, informative lesson on the contributions of African-Americans. The Challenge is based on American Legacy's Curriculum Guide. This guide provides recommended coursework that can be used throughout the year as part of the ongoing curriculum. All of the questions profile African-American contributions in every facet of American society including the arts, science and technology, education, business, and sports. Nine (9) student contestants representing one or more schools in a participating school district played The American Legacy Challenge™. There were three (3) “Semi-Final” games in which (3) student contestants competed. The 3 students first competed in a “Mystery Round,” and the top two moved on to play “History Fact Check.” The student who won the History Fact Check round emerged as the semi-final champion. The 3 semi-final round winners competed in a single championship game called the “Ultimate Challenge.” The champion of the American Legacy Challenge was chosen from this final competition as the winner for their school district. |
